Alien Assassin The Human Chronicles Saga Book 2 eBook TR Harris
If you read one, you’ll read them all!I’m posting the same review for all the books in T.R. Harris’ Human Chronicles Saga because I pretty much read them one right after another. That’s nine books, in one series, with one main character, one right after another, so, yeah, they ARE entertaining!
The basic idea under all these fun books is the reversal of most outer space alien scenarios: instead of encountering fearsome monsters on our planet or spaceship, it is the alien civilizations that encounter the strength of wronged humans. Wow, an idea right there in front of many sci fi / fantasy authors’ eyes and T.R. Harris had the sense to see it and do the work for it.
The author took a page from Asimov’s playbook by using human history as a template for plot, and his view of alien life forms is imaginative but mostly practical. There are occasional wrong homonyms and missing words (surely the result of writing and editing on a word processor and then uploading what it is believed to be perfect), but the few typos are easy to ignore because the story holds your interest and curiosity. Like I said, I read these nine books one right after another.
Anyway, it’s a fun story with perfect pace, clever but not intellectually taxing. There’s a minimum of science and enough basic, relatable human drama to keep turning the pages, reading just a little more before you go to sleep, just a little more . . .

Alien Assassin The Human Chronicles Saga Book 2 eBook TR Harris Reviews
this novel is "hyper" which means it moves along fast with very little character development, or plot development...It's just a wham, bam, and off to the next confrontation with no explanation of what out "heroes" are thinking or puzzling over. It really feels like it was written for those in the military with a 15 minute maximum attention span... I read though the first two books of the series, and, quit.... I mean, consider the title....
Hi Sci Fi friends, I am in the process of reading the complete series of the Human Chronicles Saga. I just finished book 2 and the ride across the galaxy continues. Things start to heat up with our hero becoming more involved with trying to return back home to Earth and dealing with the Aliens who would try to keep him from this task. I just love Science Fiction but it has to be a particular type of Sci Fi. These books, so far, have restored my faith in Science Fiction writers T.R. Harris, in my opinion, has what it takes to keep you excited, involved, and his vivid and colorful imaginative writing is just excellent. I am not going to give away any plot in this review but I want you to know that you will never be bored or disappointed with the story. I am sorry to say that many Science Fiction/Fantasy books are so far "Out There" that they become disjointed and so fantastic that I lose track of what is going on. These books remind me of the "thrill ride" that you get from Harrison Ford in Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Well... all except for the last Indian Jones movie that I thought could have used some work. Anyway, I love the books and I am a grumpy old man who is hard to please. Remember, this is George, and I wouldn't steer you wrong. Keep your 's charged up!
Too many typos, wrong words (where instead of were, revelry instead of reverie, and other huge mistakes), and only part of a story. This series is clumsily written, with the author in love with a few phrases (like "chomping at the bit"), and each "book" is far too short. Overall, the series should have been just one volume, not broken up into multiple books. The "chapters" grow increasingly shorter, too, with some only 1 page long by book 3, and the average being just over 3 pages long.
The story is almost interesting, but the author doesn't know what nebulae really look like in real life, nor does he seem to understand how three-dimensional combat should work. Worse, characters in book 1 were obnoxiously anti-religion (not just atheist) but in this one suddenly they have all found God (or, in the case of aliens, gods). WTF?
The political conflicts are also laughable. I would not recommend this series to anyone.
The story moves along well, and is well-written. The protagonist learns how to survive in a new environment, surrounded by dozens of alien species. The action is done well, and the references to technology are consistent and well done. I found the military aspects believable. The love interest is different from most stories. I found myself having difficulty believing some aspects of that.
Still, the book is a page-turner.
The one negative aspect of the book for me is the inherent fear of others different from oneself. The protagonist himself is even more xenophobic than he is in the first book, and there do not seem to be any voices pointing out the racism of his position. When we meet other humans, they are as xenophobic as the protagonist. The humans take jobs as assassins because they are just killing aliens, not humans, so there is no emotional cost to murder. The fact that the aliens might be highly sentient, peaceful, and cooperative does not seem to be a factor at all, not only for the protagonist, but for anyone else.
It is a series, and there are MANY interesting factors coming to a head between various races, so perhaps later books will address this major defect in the protagonist in some way. I hope so, because the individuals are very interesting, as are the actions of the various races.
I look forward to the rest of the series.
