HEIR TO A THRONE—OR TO A GRAVE
When it became certain that Edward VI was dying, the duke of Northumberland, who had been ruling England in his name, made a plan that would let him hold onto his power. He dared not let Mary come to the throne because she was fiercely Catholic and he had espoused the Protestant cause. And he did not want Elizabeth to rule because he knew her imperious nature would never defer to him. But there was more than one puppet master at work The evil elf lord Vidal Dhu had no intention of losing the flood of power the misery of Mary's reign would bring the Dark Court, and intervened so that Mary was proclaimed queen.
Urged by her Chancellor and the Imperial ambassador to order Elizabeth's death, Mary chose a different path to insure that Elizabeth would never reign. Mary decided to marry and bear a child to be the Catholic heir. Vidal Dhu, replete with power from the pain and terror of Mary's burning of heretics, agreed with Mary. Vidal Dhu had very special plans for Mary's child. And since Oberon and Titania had disappeared, there now was no one except the double pair of twins to stand between the mortals of England and the rule of Evil.

And Less Than Kind Urban Faerie Scepter'd Isle Series Book 4 eBook Mercedes Lackey Roberta Gellis
Last book of fantastic historical fantasy during the time of Queen Elizabeth beginning before her birth and through to her death. Roberta Gellis is famous for her medieval and historical novels. The blending of fantasy by Mercedes Lackey in this 4 book series was truly remarkable. I have reread this books almost once a year since I bought the first one in early 2004. I lost this book and replaced it so I could reread the series again.I truly wish the authoresses would do another series together. Their blending of history and fantasy was truly amazing.

And Less Than Kind Urban Faerie Scepter'd Isle Series Book 4 eBook Mercedes Lackey Roberta Gellis Reviews
Mercedes Lackey and Roberta Gellis have turned out another good book to read. This series involves Elisabeth I of England, and while I doubt that elves were really there, it does add to the entertainment. The authors have excelled in making the book worth collecting and reading, and rereading.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE her books - my goal is to get ALL of them for my permanent library ;-)
An excellent victorian fantasy novel, but better if you read the other 3 books in the series.
Just fine and dandy! A little sticky spot on the back cover but a baby wipe took it right off. I'm pleased!
First let me say I love the books that Mercedes Lackey writes! This is no exception of her well written books. The problem I have is that I am a retired history teacher and I know this era very well. In spite of the elven society I always knew what was going to happen. I almost put this book down several times because of that. If you are very familiar with the Tudor period in England you might think twice about reading this book.
I really enjoyed the story and the historical prespective. I thought the first book was more focused on history and helping the humans avoid the future predictions. This story is more just a story with lots of subactivity not really related to history. Very enjoyable read but do not expect more history and it does end oddly like there is going to be another book, which there was not.
A wonderfully told story by a great story teller. Well worth reading and re reading. I only wish there were more books in the series!
